30 miles away from my town, near the little town Wegeleben,
is an old Abbey.
is an old Abbey.
In the past there was a big argicultural estate around.
In the time of former GDR it was a functioning cooperative, since the collapse it's abandoned.
The decay is very fast progressed, only ruins today, partially espired.
I want to show today only a few details of the earlier stonework: the entrance gate, the lanes and the old dovecote.
Kloster Adersleben, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany
Even in this abandoned state, it seems they are keeping up with the place. It's not really over grown with grasses or weeds! I imagine it was quite a place when it was filled with life.
AntwortenLöschenI love to see those photos. Very impressive. Each place quietly tells us its long history.
AntwortenLöschenHave a good weekend.
Liebe Mascha,
AntwortenLöschendieses alte Gemäuer und diese Pflastersteine hätten's mir genauso angetan wie dir - ein wunderbares Fotomotiv!
Alles Liebe und schon mal ein schönes Wochenende!
Herzlichst, die Traude

Those stones look like they are hard to walk on. What kind of rail uses three on each side?
AntwortenLöschenThis was a field-rail. It drove around the entire area and took off the harvest, to bring it to the barns. I think this went to the nearby Sugarfactory to deliver the beets.
LöschenMany cooperatives in the GDR had such rail, which worked well. Today they are gone. Only some are restored and at festivals the people can ride on them around the villages.
Wow, what a great place! Your photos certainly show it off.
AntwortenLöschenI like this.
AntwortenLöschenThat's interesting. I like pictures which tell about history and more than that, I like reading narrations about such historical places.
AntwortenLöschenLove old abbeys and this one is great.
AntwortenLöschenVisiting the old Abbeys as we drove through England last year was a real highlight for me. This one is really neat. Would love to really see it some day.
