As I wrote last friday about colors ... asked me a visitor, how smell for me orange and red.
A difficult, but good question! Yes, the colors smell, but difficult to find words.
Conversely, I've often when smelling a particular scent, an association of color.
Now I tried to write down these perceptions.
Have confined myself to the main colors. Of course: red has many shades from vermilion to magenta... green ranging from lime green to olive and dark fir. And so on.
Many fragrances are also several color association.
I will limit myself to a few smells with only one (main) color.
White
Peonies, lily of the valey, jasmine, lilac and other sweet flowers
lychee, kokos(water)
Yellow
Tulips, freesias, any kinds of roses, autumn asters
vanilla, apples, cubeba-oil
Orange
Apricots, almonds, cinnamon, sandalwood, Peru balm, burning candles
Red
Fruitjam, strawberries, any summerdays
iron, forge, with the soldering iron make glowing silver,
odor in the circus tent, EdP "Fleur de Corail" by Lolita Lempicka
Green
Freshly mown grass, lettuce, raw sprouts, basil, geraniums
candied lemon peel, cut stem of hippeastrum, petitgrain-oil
Turquoise
Cold winter air over snow fields, fishes,
EDT "Kazmir mist" by Donna Karan
Blue
Blue is difficult and in fact there is hardly to find any scent that I associate with blue.
30 years ago there was even a perfume, which I was wearing only blue clothes, because it smelled "blue" for me. But I forgot the name, it was any creation of Yves Rocher.
Blue is more of a sound than a fragrance.
And some voices. For example, this
Purple
Hyazinth, buddlea, lavender, bergamot, ylang-ylang
EdT "Jette" by Jette Joop
Pink
Mango, cloves (dianthus)
EdT "Le Jardin d'amour" by Max Factor
Brown
Mushrooms, wet tree bark, alder forest, star anise, kakao (of course!)
Grey
Laundry, drying on the clothesline, sage, cedar wood, musk
the first summer rain on dusty roads since long time,
an empty ballet studio
Black
Church incense, cloves for cooking, juniper wood, vetiver
I hope I haven't bored you with my little excursion into the world of the senses.
It is only just my personal perception and can be very different for each person.
Maybe it's exciting to watch yourself once more conscious of smell and color?

AntwortenLöschenI link to your post tomorrow!
Could the scent of blue perfume be Nuit d´orchidee?
I remind of "Nuit Orchidee", but it wasn't. It was for me to sweet, that I don't like in perfumes.
LöschenI fount it on a picture: it was "Diamella"
LöschenIt's been so long (probably I would feel differently today)

Ok, I was wrong, "Diamella" I don´t know...

AntwortenLöschenOh how I enjoyed your photos and colors. As a child I had a royal blue bottle of "Evening in Paris" and found a small bottle at a thrift store. But then lost it in the house fire two years ago.. So my search has been back on!
